CHILDHOOD

VILLAGE GIRL

I was born in Uganda and spent part of my childhood growing up in an orphanage. I was surrounded by hardship from an early age, but I also learned how powerful hope, imagination, music, and beauty can be when life does not feel certain.

At eleven years old, I came to America through the Uganda Children’s Choir and was adopted. I arrived believing I was stepping into a new beginning—a family, safety, and a place to finally belong. But the adoption journey did not become the stable, loving home I had hoped for. As I got older, I found myself having to navigate life, healing, and identity on my own.

PRESENT

BECOMING

For years, I was still trying to understand where I came from, who I was becoming, and how to make peace with the parts of my story that hurt. I have known what it feels like to be unseen, to start over, and to build a life without the support system many people are born into.

Art became part of my way back to myself. It is where I turn memory into color, pain into beauty, and imagination into something that can be held. My work is not only about what looks beautiful. It is about survival, softness, womanhood, identity, and becoming.

I am still becoming. But I am no longer only the little girl who was searching for a place to belong. I am an artist creating the world I once needed to see.
